Applications of Various Chemical Resistant Coatings

Chemical resistant coatings are used to prevent wear and tear such as corrosion. These coatings also work to improve durability, lubrication, and scratch-resistance, in addition to promoting easy clean-up. Functions that require a simultaneously protective and consistent application while exposed to environmental and industrial chemicals would benefit from such a coating.


Chemical Resistant Coatings We Offer



Teflon coatings are also known as PTFE coatings, are composed of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). PTFE is used due to its ability to withstand high temperatures and non-stick properties. Like all resistant coatings, it also provides protection against abrasion and chemical corrosion. Teflon coatings are commonly used for coating equipment that require corrosion protection with low friction/dry lubrication.



Silverstone is a reinforced adaptation of Teflon that offers more durable, scratch-resistance, and abrasive-resistant properties. Silverstone is a non-stick plastic coating that is composed of a three coat system: primer, mid-coat, and top-coat.



Fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) is a non-stick coating that is used for its ability to produce smooth non-porous films while also providing abrasion-resistance. Other favorable properties of this coating is that it is extremely non-wetting and offer a lower than normal friction coefficient. FEP coatings are typically used as a mold release coating.



Properties of epoxy coatings are that they are self-priming, are corrosion and abrasion resistant, and offer a high gloss finish. Epoxy coatings are typically used in applications that require high performance and chemical resistance.



Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) is a resin-bonded chemical resistant coating. PPS can be used on its own or can serve as a primer for a top coat. The coating is known for its ability to withstand high thermal temperatures, and for its abrasion and wear resistant properties.



Phenolic coatings are suitable for wide range of applications including immersions to most acids, solvents and salts. The coating is chemical resistant and can endure low pH environments and high temperatures. Phenolic coatings are also resistant to compounds such as phenol, carbon tetrachloride, hydrochloric acid, and anhydrous chlorobenzene. Phenolic coatings can also be used as fasteners.



Nylon coatings offer a number of favorable properties including thermal stability, durability, chemical and abrasion resistance, and mechanical integrity. Nylon coatings are capable of providing protection against almost any environment including extreme pressure, low PH, and high temperature.



Xylan coatings are composed of PTFE and is applied in thin films. These coatings are known for their non-stick, heat and chemical resistance, and protection against corrosion properties. The coating is best used for surfaces used in the engineering industry.
